Leviyah, I suggest you actually read the Constitution....because 'separation of church and state' is NOT in the Constitution. Never has been. This now much used statment was first used by Thomas Jefferson.. He used it to address a letter he received from a Baptist church. The church people were concerned upon reading the "new" constitution, that religion was even mentioned in it (you know the bill of rights....freedom of religion, the US gov't doesnt establish any one religion). Considering that so many came to this country then, not for wealth, which is taught in our schools, but for religious freedom. In the "old" country, people were being put to death for their beliefs. So this church was concerned about "Government" (like in the old country) forcing and governing what they believe and how they believe. Thomas Jefferson wrote back to them, using the phrase "separate of church and state" to explain that the intention of "freedom of religion" in the constitution meant that government could not dictate what religions or churches do. They couldnt dictate what they say or limit what they do. Government would stay out of the church. Today it is meant that church and religion needs to stay out of government. This completely goes against our founding fathers purpose of our government and what Thomas Jefferson said. They knew the only way this United States of America would thrive and be great, regardless, if they were very religious or not, would to give honor to where honor was due. And they knew that giving thanks and credit to God was the reason. Now we come to todays time. I believe in separation of church and state, but I believe in its original intention, that government could not dictate in religion or the church. What is going on today in the schools, churches, etc (what the government is taking away and inacting) is completely unconstitutional.
Again, I suggest you read up on facts before you make your unsound comments. Because you honestly have no idea what you are talking about. oh, and please take the time to read the Constitution and other documents that led to the founding of our country and government. It might do you some good. You might be surprised at what is "NOT" getting taught in our schools and colleges. oh and Merry Christmas!!!
In response to Leviyah....Jesus IS the reason for the season. Also I will give you one thousand dollars if you can find the separation of church and state in the constitution....because IT'S NOT THERE!!!!!! One last thing...are you so sure that Christ didn't for your sins that you're willing to take a chance and face him on judgment day???? If I'm wrong then I look like an idiot for following someone that didn't exist. BUT...if you're wrong you will spend eternity (FOREVER!!!) apart from God in hell. Not because you didn't say or do the right things, but because you will be accountable for your sins (from birth till death...all of them). Mine have been washed in the blood of Jesus. Yours can be too if you HUMBLE yourself before God and acknowledge you need a savior. I really hope you do.
Every eye will see, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord... believe it or not. It's comon knowledge that the Holy Bible has been scientifically proven to be true. Read it if you want to know the truth. Anyone who denies Christ is a fool. God Bless you. Merry Christmas!
